So after a serious amount of heat and hanging off the frame while locking the seat post in the a vice I managed to free up a seriously stick seat post with some help from my local garage. I then cut the lock of the frame and set to work on the stem. As luck would have it this was also stuck in the forks and required another dose of heat from the blow torch before I could remove it. Finally the last challenge was removing the original bottom bracket that was also stuck in the pretty good. Yet more heat and a soaking of GT38 and it finally come out. So far this frame has battled me every inch of the way but progress is being made.

Fully stripped Python!

Stem removed at last...

Old School Bottom Bracket finally removed..

Next job is to take the Frame & Forks for a repaint. Probably going for a powder coat finish but watch this space!

My first one was a Raleigh Montage in lime green which duly had the quick release seat nicked -

My second was a Marin Hawk Hill in grey/purple which I never really got on with -

Project Build Threads / £30 Peugeot Python Rebuild

I found this old wrecker on the bay for £30 and with a bit of investigation found out it was a Peugeot Python from circa 1990. It has a Reynolds 531 lug less tube set and has been badly repainted at some point. It optional extra's included and stuck seat post, permanently attached bike lock, stuck stem and broken rear mech.  It also has odd cranks (half Suntour and half Shimano) and later Shimano Alvio wheels.

A thing of beauty

Think that maybe shafted???

Nice security unit

Plans are a complete strip down, repaint and rebuild with period parts so I will report back as I progress.

I have managed to source  Shimano 500LX front & Rear Mech's to replace the broken ones from the bay for 99p so not a bad start and no open wallet surgery as yet.
